How to Move During The Coronavirus Pandemic & Stay Safe

During these stressful and chaotic times, most people are probably not thinking about taking on the challenge of moving into a new home. However, leases are still ending during this pandemic and move-out dates are still scheduled. Unless you or a loved one is feeling unwell, you don’t have to postpone your move indefinitely.

Instead, hire movers that care about the safety of their crews and customers like the Boca Raton movers at Established Moving & Storage. Rest easy knowing your movers know how to move during coronavirus and are doing everything they can to prevent anyone from getting infected.

Can You Move During Coronavirus in Florida?

Yes, you are allowed to move in Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic. Governor Ron DeSantis declared a Public Health Emergency in March and announced an executive Stay-At-Home order. 1 Moving companies were deemed an essential business and allowed to remain open and operational. Our South Florida moving company has stayed open and continues helping residents move to new homes.

Both our moving crews in the field and our office staff are following CDC guidelines to ensure the safety of our customers and the Established Moving & Storage team. They have been trained on how to move during the coronavirus pandemic, which includes precautionary measures like wearing masks and regular hand washing. Tips on How to Move During Coronavirus

While you movers do their part to prevent infection and stop the spread of coronavirus while on the job, here are some things you can do and precautions you can take for a safe moving day.

Pack At Least Some Of Your Items

Minimize the contact your Boca Raton local movers will have with your belongings by doing some of the packing by yourself. Easy to pack items like clothes, linens, dinnerware, cookware, small electronics, and miscellaneous knick-knacks should go into new moving boxes. You can order new packing supplies directly from us. If you would rather do all the packing yourself, you can still book our labor-only movers to handle the heavy lifting.

Wear Face Masks And Gloves

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends wearing a cloth mask when outside your home. Before you let movers into your home, be sure you and everyone in your family is wearing a cloth mask and preferably latex gloves. Cloth masks with filters are more effective at blocking out small particles and masks worn underneath a plastic face shield may be even better. Yes, you may look a little weird wearing all these personal protective equipment (PPE), but at least you are reducing your risk of getting COVID-19.

Self-Quarantine At Your New Home

Once you arrive at your new home, thoroughly disinfect all living areas, particularly areas where you will be preparing food and eating. Use EPA registered disinfectants to sanitize doorknobs, handles, light switches, and other highly touched fixtures. After you’ve settled in, quarantine inside your home for at least two weeks if you can before going out and meeting other people. Get enough rest and check for any COVID-19 symptoms. Before you know it, you’ll be able to meet your loved ones again!
