Look up reviews from previous customers
Online reviews are an important first step for moving companies. Find your top three or four moving companies and visit their profiles on Facebook, Yelp, Google and other sites to see what previous customers have said. Ask your family and friends for the companies that they used and their experience. Understand the service that everyone is receiving before you even pick up the phone.
Check out the company’s website
There are several important things to consider when looking at a moving company website. Do they have photos of them in the field or stock photos? Do they list out their services, insurance policies and more? Do they show reviews on their site? These are all keys to see if your movers are reputable or not.
Call your moving companies
Make sure you call each of the moving companies you are considering and experience their customer service first hand. Are they polite, helpful and easy to work with over the phone? Are they transparent about their rates, schedules, and policies? If not, this is a red flag. If they don’t provide great service at your first contact point over the phone, there is a good chance their in-person service is poor as well.
