Seattle5 Items You’d Be Surprised to Know Can’t Go in a Storage Unit

If you are planning on investing in a storage unit, you should keep in mind that while you can throw a lot in there, some items aren’t allowed. You may be surprised at some of the rules of thumb that a Seattle storage facility abides by. Our Seattle movers want you to be prepared for your storage experience. Here are five surprising items you can’t put in storage.

Items with a unique smell

Ladies, that expense perfume needs to stay at home. Regardless of what the smell is, items with a strong odor are not allowed to be stored in a Seattle storage facility because it can bother employees or affect other units. Scented lotions and soaps are also not allowed because they can attract pests. In summary- if it smells, leave it at home.

Cash Money

Don’t stash your cash in a storage unit- it is not covered by insurance policies and if something happens you will not get it back.

Jewelry and Other Valuables

Jewelry, valuable antiques, and more should also be discussed with your Seattle storage facility before bringing it in, as some facilities don’t want to deal with the headache of additional insurance.

Medical Prescriptions

If you have a bunch of extra prescriptions or pills that you want to store, it’s better to find a drawer in your home, as many storage facilities will not allow them. It is a liability issue on their end.

Tires

Do you have extra tires laying around your garage for when you get a flat? Many storage facilities do not prohibit more than 4 tires in a storage unit. If for some reason you don’t come back for your items, they don’t want to pay all that money for removal.

Just remember that every storage facility is different in terms of their specific rules and regulations. Make sure you discuss with your Seattle storage facility to ensure you understand what can go in your storage unit and what cannot. And if you need help getting your belongings from your home into storage, call our Seattle movers. Relax. We got this.
