Stopping the spread of the coronavirus is a group effort that all Americans are taking part in. Through our individual choices and actions, we can help flatten the curve of this harmful pandemic as well as help ease the workload of healthcare workers helping patients fight this disease on the frontlines. Like all American values and community efforts, COVID-19 prevention starts in the home.
While our essential Boca Raton movers continue helping South Florida residents relocate during these trying times, they as well as their families have started developing safety habits to keep themselves and their loved ones safe from COVID-19. Read through these helpful tips to learn how to stay protected from coronavirus.
Wash Your Hands Throughout The Day
Both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recommend maintaining proper hand hygiene to slow the spread of viral diseases including COVID-19. These two health organizations urge people to wash their hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds to decrease the risk of contracting SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Stay At Home If You Are Able To
Limiting the amount of people you interact with continues to be one of the best methods of COVID-19 prevention. Even as more businesses and public spaces open up, staying in your home as much as possible is the safest thing you can do. If you are still able to work at home, do so for as long as you can. Have groceries and other essentials delivered to you so you don’t have to leave your home often.
Follow Social Distancing Guidelines
Even as Florida’s stay at home orders relax, continue following social distance best practices when out in a public space. As per CDC recommendations, stay at least 6 feet to 13 feet away from others and avoid crowded areas. Don’t gather in groups, which also means no parties or get-togethers just yet.
Wear Masks When Outside Your Home
The CDC also recommends wearing cloth masks when outside your home and in a public space. Wearing latex gloves and plastic face shields are also effective ways to protect yourself from the coronavirus. Face shields should cover your chin and ears. If you are able to obtain an N95 respirator or equivalent, do so because those are the best mask options.
Take a Shower Right After Work
If you leave your home for work, always take a shower right after entering your home. Clean your body and hair every day. Put your dirty clothes in a laundry basket and make sure they are properly separated from your clean clothes and living space. Don’t wear any clothes again, including denim jeans, until they are properly washed.
Do Your Laundry Regularly
Wash your clothes, bed sheets, and used linens regularly. You don’t want to repeat any outfits until all the clothes you previously wore are properly cleaned. While the risk of becoming infected from handling garments is rare, wear latex gloves and a mask when handling soiled laundry just to be cautious. Do a load of laundry with hot or warm water. Use chlorine bleach with the whites and a laundry disinfectant additive with the colors.
